The story grabs you immediately and doesn’t let go. There is a powerful sense of place—in this case Winnipeg—which, by the end of the novel will make any reader feel at home in Marantz's world. Bill Marantz deserves a wide audience...(this book) should get him one.

I don't ordinarily laugh out loud when I'm reading, but I laughed out loud at Virgo's relationship with Abby Brown. Take it from me, I read a lot of P.I. Novels and this is as good as or better than anything on the shelves. Pace, Humor, Character, Plot—Great!
